Day 2: Shimla to Kalpa – Through Apple Orchards & Sutlej Valley (220 km | 8-9 hrs)

After an early breakfast, set off towards Kalpa, a picturesque village in Kinnaur. En route, pass through Narkanda, famous for its apple orchards, and Rampur, a historic trading town along the Sutlej River. The drive offers spectacular views of deep gorges and towering peaks. Upon reaching Kalpa, marvel at the majestic Kinner Kailash range, a sacred mountain that changes colors during sunrise and sunset. Enjoy a peaceful evening in the serene atmosphere of Kalpa.

Day 3: Kalpa to Tabo – Entering the Land of Monasteries (190 km | 7-8 hrs)

Today’s journey takes you deeper into the trans-Himalayan terrain as you leave Kalpa and head towards Tabo, home to one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in India. En route, stop at Khab, where the Sutlej and Spiti rivers meet, and witness the drastic change in landscape from lush green valleys to the cold desert of Spiti. Visit Nako Lake, a serene high-altitude lake surrounded by prayer flags. Upon reaching Tabo, explore the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, also known as the ‘Ajanta of the Himalayas’ for its ancient murals and scriptures. Overnight stay in Tabo.

Day 4: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar – The Hidden Gem of Spiti (80 km | 4-5 hrs)

Start your day with a scenic drive to Dhankar Monastery, a fascinating monastery perched on a cliff, offering panoramic views of the Spiti River valley. If time permits, take a short hike to Dhankar Lake, a stunning high-altitude lake. Later, continue to Kaza, the commercial and cultural hub of Spiti Valley. Spend the evening strolling through the town, exploring its quaint cafes, and soaking in the tranquil vibes of this remote Himalayan settlement. Overnight stay in Kaza.

Day 5: Kaza – Key Monastery & The Highest Villages in the World

Today, explore some of Spiti’s most iconic sights! Start with a visit to Key Monastery, the largest and most spectacular monastery in Spiti, perched on a hilltop with breathtaking views of the valley. Next, drive to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, and send a postcard from one of the most remote places on Earth. Continue to Komic, one of the highest motorable villages in the world, before visiting Langza, famous for its giant Buddha statue and marine fossils. Return to Kaza for a relaxed evening and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kaza to Chandratal – The Mesmerizing Moon Lake (90 km | 6-7 hrs)

After breakfast, bid farewell to Kaza as you head towards the magical Chandratal Lake. Drive through the rugged terrain, crossing the mighty Kunzum Pass (4,551m), where you can stop to seek blessings at Kunzum Mata Temple. Upon reaching Chandratal, be awestruck by the beauty of this crescent-shaped lake, which reflects the towering peaks around it. Day 7: Chandratal to Manali – A Thrilling Drive Through the Mountains (130 km | 8-9 hrs)

Wake up to the surreal beauty of Chandratal Lake before starting your journey towards Manali. The drive is nothing short of an adventure, as you traverse through the rugged terrain of Batal and Chhatru, passing numerous glaciers and waterfalls. Experience the thrill of crossing the Atal Tunnel, the longest highway tunnel in the world at such an altitude, before reaching the lush green landscapes of Manali. Day 8: Departure from Manali – Ending on a High Note
