Day 2: Shimla to Kalpa – Apple Orchards & Himalayan Views (220 km | 8-9 hrs)

Wake up early for a scenic drive towards Kalpa, a beautiful village nestled in Kinnaur Valley. The journey takes you through Narkanda, famous for its apple orchards, and Rampur, a historic town along the Sutlej River. As you reach Kalpa, be prepared to be mesmerized by the stunning views of the Kinner Kailash range. Take a walk around the village and enjoy the serenity of this Himalayan paradise. Day 3: Kalpa to Tabo – Entering the Land of Monasteries (190 km | 7-8 hrs)

After breakfast, hit the road towards Tabo, one of the oldest settlements in Spiti Valley. Drive through the spectacular landscapes of Kinnaur, crossing Reckong Peo and Puh, where the scenery starts transforming into Spiti’s iconic barren terrain. Stop at Nako Lake, a hidden gem surrounded by mountains, before continuing to Tabo. Upon arrival, visit the ancient Tabo Monastery, over 1,000 years old and home to stunning murals and Buddhist scriptures. Overnight stay in Tabo.

Day 4: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar – Spiritual Bliss & Breathtaking Views (80 km | 4-5 hrs)

Today, the journey continues to Dhankar Monastery, a hidden treasure perched dramatically on a cliff. Explore the monastery, which once served as the capital of Spiti, and take in the breathtaking views of the Spiti River below. If you’re up for an adventure, take a short hike to Dhankar Lake, a serene high-altitude lake. After a peaceful time in Dhankar, drive towards Kaza, the largest town in Spiti Valley. Spend the evening exploring Kaza’s market and soaking in the local culture. Overnight stay in Kaza.

Day 5: Kaza – Key Monastery & The Highest Villages on Earth

Wake up to a day full of exploration as you visit some of the highest inhabited villages in the world! Start with a visit to the Key Monastery, Spiti’s most iconic monastery, which sits on a hilltop with jaw-dropping views of the valley. Then, drive to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, where you can send a postcard from the top of the world. Continue to Komic, one of the highest motorable villages, before visiting Langza, known for its giant Buddha statue and ancient fossils. Return to Kaza for a relaxing evening and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kaza to Chandratal – The Mesmerizing Moon Lake (90 km | 6-7 hrs)

After breakfast, it’s time for one of the most scenic drives of your trip! Cross the mighty Kunzum Pass (4,551m), stopping for a quick prayer at the Kunzum Mata Temple before descending towards the stunning Chandratal Lake. This crescent-shaped lake is a sight to behold, with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains. Enjoy a peaceful evening by the lake, watching the sky transform into a blanket of stars. Overnight stay in camps near Chandratal.

Day 7: Chandratal to Manali – Back to Civilization (130 km | 8-9 hrs)

Bid farewell to the Spiti wilderness as you make your way towards Manali. Drive through the rough terrain of Batal and Chhatru, passing breathtaking landscapes and glaciers along the way. Cross the Atal Tunnel, a modern engineering marvel, before arriving in the lush green valley of Manali. Check in to your hotel and unwind after the adventurous journey. Spend the evening exploring Mall Road, visiting Hadimba Temple, or enjoying a riverside café. Overnight stay in Manali.

Day 8: Departure from Manali – A Trip to Remember

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and, depending on your schedule, take some time to visit Vashisht Hot Springs or Old Manali before heading back home.
